Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the Groupthink model in the RT group deliberation forum in the Kelurahan, and the factors that trigger the phenomenon of groupthink in the RT meeting groups in the Tangkiling Village. This research uses a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive research type. Data collection techniques used are: 1) observation, 2) interviews, 3) documentation. The results of the study show that there is no groupthink phenomenon because the leadership style of the head of the RT in the Tanjung Pinang Village, Palangka Raya City, is laissez faire. Dominant leader factor is not indicated. And the high cohesiveness of the group also occurs due to the presence and involvement of group members in RT meetings and activities. But provocative situations were not proven in this study, because only a few and rarely group members experienced anxiety and confusion in dealing with problems that arose in RT meetings or activities. Then for other symptoms, such as the closedness of the minds of group members, there is an indication that there is no Groupthink. Then the last symptom found in this research is the search for agreement too early, this does not give rise to groupthink because group members provide dominant answers, namely always receiving input from group members, so that in the formulation of activities they do not produce early or fast agreements. Groupthink can emerge because it is triggered by 3 factors, namely group, dominant leadership and provocative group situations.
