Abstract

The development of technology in the current era of globalization is inevitable and will continue to grow in the future. Almost all human activities use technology. One of the human activities that often use the role of technology is in the field of information and communication. With the increasing use of Instagram, the platform is now also used for various purposes including disseminating information to the public. Various parties, such as communities, organizations, companies, institutions, and other groups also use Instagram to disseminate information. The Instagram account @ilmukomunikasi_unj utilizes Instagram as a means to share information. This account facilitates students in providing information about academic and non-academic matters. This study aims to determine the effect of the @ilmukomunikasi_unj Instagram account on the information needs of UNJ Communication Science students. This study uses a quantitative approach and uses primary data from questionnaires and secondary data from journals, books, news articles, and websites. The research sample consisted of 45 students of class 2020 UNJ Communication Science Study Program, using simple random sampling technique. This research shows the results that there is an influence of Instagram social media @ilmukomunikasi_unj on the information needs of UNJ Communication Science students.
