Abstract

Citizen journalim has become a phenomenon that allows the general public to participate in the news-making process. The process of processing information and sharing it on social media by citizen journalists raises a worrying side of professional journalism. This citizen journalist phenomenon eventually spread to create the "Homeless Media" phenomenon This article aims to find out how professional journalists see the phenomenon of citizen journalists as homeless media in local news production. Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan is the focus location in this article using qualitative phenomological research methods. Data was taken from two sources, namely primary, by conducting in-depth interviews with professional journalists in three large local media, namely Duta TV, Bpost and Radar Banjarmasin. Books, journalists and other references that support this article become secondary data so that this article becomes more relevant and sharp. As a result, citizen journalists emerged because of citizens' dissatisfaction with journalistic products packaged by professional journalists. Speed ??and contemporaneity are the main reasons for the popularity of citizen journalist content. Professional journalists consider the data created by citizen journalists as photo and video content only as raw data or initial data. And the hope is that citizen journalists will not be a threat but rather a collaboration that can strengthen the information and news disseminated to the public.
