This study explores the hijrah experiences of Muslim female university students and how their online self-presentation on Instagram changes before and after hijrah. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research involved 46 students from various universities in Indonesia who were identified as having undergone hijrah. Data were collected through an online self-presentation scale, open-ended questions, and in-depth interviews with two participants, then analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings highlight five dimensions of the hijrah experience: self-transformation, resilience, challenges, positive experiences, and social support. While the quantitative results showed no significant differences in the level of online self-presentation between hijrah and non-hijrah students, the qualitative data revealed a shift in both the content and purpose of social media posts. After hijrah, students were more likely to share religious and educational content as a means of self-expression. These insights offer a deeper understanding of how religious identity is negotiated and expressed in digital spaces.
