Abstract

The experimental creation of the dance music The Body and Society seeks to explore the connection between music, dance movements, and social values within the Javanese cultural context. This research focuses on how musical experimentation can enhance the expression of dance movements that represent the concepts of harmony, respect, and self-discipline in Javanese society. With a qualitative approach, this article investigates the collaboration between dancers and musicians in developing innovative musical idioms that blend traditional gamelan elements with minimalist and contemporary music, highlighting the concept of "Rasa" or feeling. The research findings show that in the creation of dance music, music serves not only as an accompaniment but also as a powerful element that reinforces the social messages conveyed through the dance and offers opportunities for deeper artistic interpretation. The results of this experiment emphasize that the integration of music and dance in a collaborative work can enrich the audience's experience, enhance artistic communication, and open new possibilities for interpretation in the performing arts.
