Abstract

This study aims to determine the self-concept of millennial farmers. The research design used qualitative design with a case study method conducted in Suralaga District, East Lombok Regency, NTB. In this study the theory used is symbolic interactionism by George Herbert Mead. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews, documentation, and archival searches. Validation of research data using source triangulation. Then, the data analysis technique uses inductive data analysis. The results showed that millennial farmers in Suralaga District have sel-confidence and are proud of their farming identity. The self-concept formed in millennial farmers is influenced by three factors: particular others, generalize others, and education. From these three factors, it was found that the reasons underlying the self-concept of millennial farmers are family tradition, considering farming to have many benefits, and feeling called as the next generation.
