Abstract

This study aims to reveal the social practices of early adulthood individuals in consuming and engaging with digital media news daily. The concept used in this study is media habit, and this research was conducted using a qualitative method with an ethnomethodological study approach and data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews. The research location was in Jakarta, selecting informants from various backgrounds and professions. The study results show that several factors, such as information needs, habits, preferences, and social environment, influence news consumption habits in early adulthood on digital platforms. In addition, this research also shows that there are differences in news consumption patterns between digital media and traditional media. In conclusion, this study provides a clearer picture of news consumption habits in early adulthood on digital platforms and the factors that influence it. This research also suggests further research to broaden the scope of research locations and pay attention to other factors influencing news consumption habits in young adults.
